As we disassemble the motor on our Mazdaspeed 3 build, we are also looking for signs why the engine popped.
After a took a closer look at everything we have found a MAJOR issue with the intake valves. All of them was covered in what looks to be sludge. I apologize in advance for poor picture, as it was difficult to get proper lighting inside the head. Take a look!
As some of you may know we recently opened in July of this year, 2009. I had spent the last few years working at Cobb Tuning in SLC, UT and decided it was time to branch out on my own. I have to say it was the best choice I could have made. Not to say my time at Cobb was bad or uneventful, quite the contrary is true. I was able to work on some of the most challenging projects I have faced in my career. I was able to make some great friends and important contacts, and possibly the most important factor, I was able to open Akuma.
At Akume we have been very fortunate to remain at the forefront of the tuning and Spo-Com industry. At a time when some businesses are closing their doors, we have been very lucky. Our customers are some of the best I have had the chance to meet in my career! Four months later and we have so much to talk about. From GTR's to MS3's we have worked on everything. We are strengthening our industry contacts and developing products fro a few different platforms.
We have so many things in the pipeline for you guys. Keep an eye out on our blog for updates and pics. I will be sure to show you what we have been working on and get teaser pics along with dyno plots ASAP! For the GTR guys we have a very special TURBO KIT (maybe more than one option), and a few big power adders. Expect bundled packages with tunes too! For the MS3 guys, we now have a full MOTOR BUILD PROGRAM! Featuring CP Pistons, Carrillo Rods, and so many other top shelf bits. The SUBY guys can expect a full Akuma demo car with the new Cosworth ECU/manifold and < script src="/plugins/editors/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/themes/advanced/langs/en.js" type="text/javascript"> custom fabricated parts! We also have a new AKUMA exhaust line for the Suby guys! 2008 STI pics to follow. Expect 4+ 10 second Suby's next season. The EVO-X guys will get some crazy group buys and install deals, not to mention an AKUMA tuned Group-N-Rally car. Akuma just bought a Honda S2000 for a shop car build as well.
OK, breathe... LOL. I will be sure to get PICS, DYNO plots, and so much more. Thanks for reading and stay tuned!!!!
Cheers

>Akuma Motorsports presents the public with a project we’ve been looking forward to. We will be swapping a Rb26DETT motor into this 1975 Datsun 260z.
As the build goes on, we will keep an update but the car got dropped off today. We will be taking apart this old school ride, so keep it locked here for pics!!
